Professional Partnership

NYCCC was founded in 1993 by Executive Director, Dr. J. Terry Twerell, DPC. who works with individual and marriage counseling. Janetta Astone, Ph.D., adolescent and individual adult psychotherapist, joined the staff shortly thereafter to assist with research and development. Jacquiline William CSW, a New York State Licensed Social Worker, deals with adult and youth issues and is the director of clinical supervision. All therapist are schooled in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and come from a Christian perspective in their work.

Our Purpose

New York Christian Counseling Center is a Christ-centered educational and counseling center providing guidance in cognitive-behavioral short term counseling within the Christian community. The educational goal of the center is to equip and encourage clergy and Christian counselors who minister to over 5000 congregations in the greater New York area. Since its inception in 1993, NYCCC continues to provide professional training in pastoral counseling to clergy and mental health professionals. NYCCC is a prime referral for hundreds of churches in the Greater New York area.

Our Affiliations

NYCCC serves as an accredited Pastoral Psychotherapy and Counseling Training Center with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), the New York State supervisory center for the National Christian Counselors Association (NCCA). NYCCC is also a Student Chapter of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) The senior directors of NYCCC are all Certified Cognitive/Behavioral Christian Counselors with the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapist.
